At Bank of Evansville, we're proud of our history-a history based on guiding principles that have led us to develop into a community bank that plays a vital role in helping local businesses and individuals achieve their financial goals. When Bank of Evansville began, we set out with a focus on commercial banking to provide better options to local businesses, business owners and their employees, and we continue to focus on those objectives as we serve the local area.
OUR STORY
In May 2000, a small group of local bankers and investors, who understood what small to mid-sized businesses require in order to become successful, met to discuss the possibility of beginning a new bank. As larger local banks continued to grow and change, the need for a local community bank was evident in order for local businesses and consumers to receive the attention and service they deserved. The group hired a consulting firm to investigate the possibilities, and based on the highly favorable results, this small group put together a Board of Directors consisting of 13 successful leaders in the community. Once the organizers were in place, the preliminary government approvals were secured, and the Bank of Evansville began selling stock on January 4, 2001.
On Monday, July 2, 2001, Bank of Evansville opened its doors for the first time at its West side branch located at 530 N St Joseph Avenue. Its East side branch opened the following week on Monday, July 9, 2001 at its temporary location at 5130 Vogel Road. Bank of Evansville set off with a strong commitment and focus on reaching out to local businesses and individuals by offering high quality, competitive products and services with a sense of importance and urgency. From the beginning, Bank of Evansville set out to be a full service bank, with an emphasis on business banking, offering traditional retail products along with commercial, consumer, and mortgage loans. After six months of operation the bank grew to $58.6 million in assets making it one of the fastest growing "De Novo" banks that opened in 2001.
Bank of Evansville moved from its temporary East side location at 5130 Vogel Road to its existing East Side location at 4424 Vogel Road on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 allowing plenty of space for expansion and opportunity at its new headquarters. This location currently accommodates a full service retail banking location along with our commercial loan department, mortgage department, commercial loan operations department, credit department, and operations department.
Bank of Evansville is proud of the response that the Evansville community has had towards it since opening in 2001. In 2009, we will continue to strive to provide world class client service and to deliver consistently superior value by being responsive to our community.
