Citizens Bank is a state-chartered bank that has been serving the financial needs of the residents and businesses of Morgan County and the contiguous areas for over 75 years.

Citizens bank was formed in 1931 by a group of concerned citizens when the only bank in the area at the time, Mooresville State Bank was not able to open for business.

The Bank suffered through some very tough times during its first two years of operation, but was declared to be sound by the state bank examiners. For the next ten years, the Bank enjoyed good growth and had a total of $800,000 in assets by the end of 1943. By 1955, the Bank had total assets of $2.5 million.
The Bank experienced tremendous growth during the next twenty-five years as it expanded to areas beyond the town borders. Branch offices were opened in both Brooklyn and

Monrovia. A new main office was constructed in 1966 and the White Lick Branch was opened in Mooresville in 1974 to provide better service to the growing community. By the end of 1980, the Bank had grown to over $50 million in total assets.

Following a change in banking laws, which allowed branching outside of Morgan County, a new office was opened in Plainfield in 1987 to expand service to Hendricks County. During the 10-year period ending in 1999, three new offices were opened in Martinsville, one office was opened in Eminence and the Bank opened the Town Center Branch to add a third office in Mooresville. In April of 2003 an office was opened in the Heartland Crossing complex north of Mooresville on St. Rd. 67. The Bank's newest growth is in the Greenwood area. The first location opened in 2004 on County Line Road and our newest location opened in January 2006 at S.R. 135 & Smith Valley Road.

Today, Citizens Bank has 145 Officers and employees, 13 banking offices with 12 ATMs, and total assets of over $270 million. While it has grown and changed significantly over the years, the management and staff remains committed to providing personal service to its many customers.
