First Bank of Berne was established in 1891 in the small community of Berne, Indiana. Named after its sister city, Bern, Switzerland, the town was built by Swiss immigrants who came to America for a better life. Relationships have been formed and strengthened since those beginning days. First Bank of Berne now has seven offices in Berne, Bluffton, Decatur, Portland, and Van Wert, as well as a satellite location at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
