A History of Service
Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union (PEFCU) was founded in 1969 by a group of concerned Purdue University employees searching for a place where they, their families and their fellow employees could save and borrow money safely, confidentially and at a fair rate of interest. The efforts of these dedicated individuals resulted in a membership numbering more than 400 university employees in the first year, keeping receipts in a simple cigar box.
What began as a simple idea of providing Purdue employees with a place where they could save and borrow money safely, confidently and at a fair interest rate has grown into a successful credit union with more than 56,000 members. Although the PEFCU of today seems a long way from the cigar box days, we will never forget that our roots are tied to that same simple beginning of providing a safe place for members' money.
