Roachdale Bank & Trust Company opened for business on October 7, 1892, in Roachdale, Indiana. During the Great Depression of the 1930's, Roachdale Bank was closed only one day. On December 16, 1931, two men, armed with machine guns and sawed-off shotguns, blew the safe of the Roachdale Bank and escaped with $4,500 in currency and bonds. All of the glass was blown out of the front windows and furniture was torn and splintered. The damage was estimated at $1,000.
On April 1, 1960, the Bainbridge branch office opened for business in a building leased from the National Spotted Poland China Record.
On March 20, 1969, at a special meeting of the Board of Directors, the Board approved an agreement of merger with the State Bank of Russellville and approved the purchase of assets and assumption of liabilities of the Russellville Bank. This became the second branch of the Roachdale Bank & Trust to be opened for business.
On September 2, 1969, President David S. Hostetter called a special meeting of all Directors to organize the new Tri-County Bank & Trust Company.
On August 8, 1980, the Board of Directors met and approved a plan of exchange transferring the ownership of Tri-County Bank & Trust Company to the Tri-County Bancorp, a one-bank holding company.
On December 29, 1987, the Tri-County Bank & Trust Company opened its third branch, a new facility on South Boulevard in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Tri-County Bank opened its fourth branch in downtown Crawfordsville at 224 East Main Street on September 13, 1993, to provide better services to our merchants and customers of the area downtown and in the northern part of Montgomery County.
